Light Burst, glass monoprint

lightburst, monoprint

This is actually a rather small monoprint, about 4″ x 3″. This was done using acrylic paint and a plexiglass (I didn`t want to put that in the title, it sounds cheap!) plate, and pressed onto dampened printmaking paper. I did this in an art class, and the assignment was to make an abstract art piece without using any known or identifiable symbols or images. I think I did a good job with such a tricky assignment, don`t you?

I feel like, instead of the title being “Lightburst”, it may actually have been more appropriate to name it after music notes.

Doesn`t it make you feel like you are seeing an illustration of a symphony swelling at a crescendo? If not, what does it look like to you?
