Today’s post in the goals series aims to help you get “The Maximum Lifestyle” that my blog stands for by getting you pointed in the right direction with the help of goals tailor made to what you want to do in your life. Don’t worry if you don’t have any goals ready to go- that’s the whole point of the series!
Whether your goals are for this week, this year, this decade, or your whole life, the only way to start working towards goals is to make sure you have some in the first place. That’s where I come in. This series is to help you think about what goals you might want to have in the first place- because the best way to start with something is by taking baby steps.
Today we are going to tackle getting you inspired by the goals of the your family! We’ll take baby steps in this series, and by the end of the series you’ll have finished the first step to getting the future and career you dream of. Let’s get started!
What Goals Would You Have if you Didn’t Limit Yourself?
Think about the things you’d like to do with your life, but have been too afraid to even write as a goal because you were sure they were pipedreams. I challenge you to write down the most impossible goals you have today and really think seriously about them.
1.) Think About The Goals Denied You
Maybe you had a goal of being in a creative career of some kind, but you gave up on it because other people told you it was impossible. Maybe you had a goal to go to college one day but you gave up on it because you knew you couldn’t afford it. Maybe you had a goal to do something big but you gave up because other people told you it was impossible- write them down.
2.) Think About The Goals You’re Afraid Of
Maybe there are some goals you gave up on before other people could shoot them down because you were sure they were hopeless and you never dared to dream them in the first place. Maybe you always wanted to travel the world, but you were scared it would be expensive or dangerous so you didn’t dare to. Maybe you wanted to become friends with your coworker down the hall, but you didn’t try to even talk to them because they seemed to have a very interesting life already and you’re sure there wouldn’t be space for you in it. Take some time to daydream and try to think about what goals you’ve hidden from yourself and never dared to think about- during your morning commute, while you are running errands, or even during that time while you lay awake in bed- and think about the dreams and goals you’ve denied yourself. Then write them down. You still don’t have to pursue those goals, but at least you can have them out in the open and decide once and for all if this is a goal you actually want to do and fear was just holding back or if it genuinely is not something the you of today has as a goal anymore. Whatever the reason, just write it down for now and deal with it later.
3.) Write down your thoughts!
Keep your phone or a notebook handy whenever you do your brainstorming. After spending so much time looking up goals, it’s important to sit down and keep track of them. How else are you going to later go through your list and narrow down potential life goals to just the goals you actually want?
If all you can do is think up a goal for yourself for just this week, great! If you want to make a goal for the direction your whole life is going to go in, you’ll want to do more thinking than just this one brain storm session, but you might have an idea or two of what you want from your future- so be sure to write them down so you can personalize them later!
